Ye, formerly Kanye West, is being investigated in connection with allegations of battery in downtown Los Angeles early Thursday, police said.

Ye is a named suspect in the case, Los Angeles police confirmed. No arrests have been made.

Police officials said the confrontation occurred when a person started recording Ye on video. The photographer called police, but Ye was gone by the time the arrived. The exact nature of the person’s injuries were not immediately clear.

The alleged altercation is being investigated as a misdemeanor battery, which carries a maximum jail sentence of six months.

Representatives for Ye did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
