trump’s-project-app-was-suspended-from-the-google-play-store-because-it-didn’t-work

Google removed previous president Donald Trump’s 2020 project app from Google’s Play Store previously Wednesday. It wasn’t gotten rid of for any of the many other factors that Trump has been eliminated from the world’s biggest platforms, but rather because it just didn’t work, Android Police reports.

Prior to its suspension, the app provided campaign news, an occasion schedule, and ways to donate to the project, but at some point, it stopped working, triggering Google to take it down. The iOS version of the app is still on the Apple App Shop and still working.

It may not be surprising, but apps do need to preserve “minimum functionality” as part of the Play Store’s policies, which suggests they must both load and be responsive. Google offered a declaration to Android Police about why it removed the app:

The Trump 2020 project app recently quit working and we connected to the designer numerous times in an effort to get them to deal with the problem. People anticipate that apps downloaded from Google Play provide a minimum level of functionality and our policy is to remove non-working apps from the shop if they are not repaired.”

While there might be a desire to connect the app’s elimination to larger political motives like Trump’s 2nd impeachment and even previously circumstances of the former President getting eliminated from Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and YouTube, this is simple app shop moderation at work: when an app doesn’t function and the designers don’t update, it gets removed till further notice. Considering that the 2020 project is over, do not anticipate the app to get updated– at least till 2024.
