chromebooks-just-had-their-best-year-ever

According to experts, Chromebooks had an extraordinary 2020, with the last quarter being the greatest ever for Google’s laptop computers (via 9to5Google). According to research study firms Gartner and Canalys, over 30 million of the devices delivered last year, with somewhere between 11 and 11.7 million shipping in Q4 alone.

The companies disagree on how much growth this is when compared to 2019, but both price quote that it’s a lot: Gartner estimates that Chromebooks are up 80 percent, while Canalys states it’s 109 percent. For comparison, PC sales were up by 11 percent this year, which is the greatest development the classification had seen in a decade. This isn’t to provide the impression that Chromebooks outsold PCs– Gartner estimates there were 275 million standard computer systems sold this year, but it does reveal that a person classification is experiencing a surge in development, while another is recuperating after a dip.

Education has a lot to do with it, according to Canalys. Chromebooks are huge sellers in the education market, and schools had to find a method to provide at-home students with computers for remote knowing during COVID.

As students participate in school from home, they’re clearly not going to be coming house to a various PC. A great deal of kids I understand have never ever utilized a conventional computer system: they spend their time on Chromebooks and tablets rather.
