Braunwyn Windham-Burke was perhaps front and center on this season of RHOC
Viewers followed Braunwyn’s life from early in her sobriety journey through the pandemic and to her brave coming out as a lesbian.
Now the season is over, and it looks like there is a lot more of Braunwyn’s story to tell.
There’s just one problem: Braunwyn’s castmates have been so cruel that she’s had enough.
Braunwyn opened to Gain Access To Hollywood in a recent, prolonged interview that served as a postmortum on the season.
She is beyond reluctant to return for another season.
Braunwyn understands after this year in the spotlight that she ‘d once again be the focal point “and be attacked all year again.”
She has experienced this as soon as, lamenting that “it was difficult.”
” It’s not healthy,” Braunwyn verifies in the interview.
She also specifies that it’s honestly “not enjoyable” to be ganged up upon by all of the other Housewives.
Braunwyn has ample on her plate as it is without feeling that shrews (or an eagle) are feasting upon her liver only for it to regrow anew every day.
Mentioning her liver, however, she reveals one staggering effect of all of the pressure from her castmates.
The vicious attacks made her feel lured to, in desperation, drink simply to prevent them.
” Prior to the reunion I was right there beside my bed, on the floor, crying hysterically,” Braunwyn admits.
She confesses: “I almost consumed– I suggest this is dreadful to state– I practically consumed.”
Instead of drinking to cope directly, Braunwyn describes, she was lured to do so “since I thought if I drink, I can go to rehab and will not have to go to the reunion.”
Braunwyn describes that, at the time, it “looked like a completely logical description.”
If you have ever been in a desperate circumstance where you seemed like anything would be preferable if it permitted you to escape, you know how real that type of unreasonable thinking can be.
” I almost drank so I would not have to do my job,” she shares, her eyes welling with tears.
” My sobriety is not phony,” Braunwyn affirms.
” And this is hard,” she highlights, “and I do battle.”
Unfortunately, some individuals have ghoulishly declared that her alcoholism, sobriety, and even sexuality are “made up” for stories. In addition to being ridiculous, these accusations are backed by no proof– just contempt.
On the season ending, Braunwyn was challenged by her numerous castmates.
Gina Kirschenheiter asked if she still enjoys her other half, Sean Burke, because she had actually simply come out as a lesbian.
” I love him,” Braunwyn answered. “We made a commitment that we’re going to fight for our marital relationship which was the dedication we made which’s what we are currently doing.”
Naturally, Emily Simpson had her own thoughts to share throughout the confessional, calling Braunwyn “selfish.”
” I believe every decision Braunwyn makes in life is to much better Braunwyn,” Emily opined.
In addition to being bold words originating from an apparently unashamed Trump supporter, that’s … hardly even an insult, if at all.
Braunwyn and Sean have fixed to stay dedicated to their marital relationship.
The 2 of them have 7 kids together and have actually shared their lives with each other for years.
Obviously Braunwyn holds fantastic affection for Sean. They do not need to share a bed with each other to do that, or to cherish and co-parent their kids.
Many couples have actually dealt with the exact same issue after one– or, in some cases, both — come out as gay.
Accepting and accepting your sexuality and who you truly are does not magically remove your former life.
If you wish to put it all behind you, that’s something. However when you have kids therefore much personal history, lots of people over the years have actually chosen to just redefine their marital relationship instead of end it.
Other fans have actually questioned how Braunwyn didn’t understand that she was a lesbian some time before Baby # 7.
The delicate response is that, in a homophobic society, it takes incredible nerve and introspection and a little bit of luck for the majority of people to break through cultural expectations and recognize who they really are.
The indelicate response is, well, she was intoxicated
Braunwyn started drinking as a form of self-medication when she remained in her early teenagers, getting squandered at a celebration and realizing that unexpectedly, she wasn’t so unpleasant.
This was the beginning of her alcohol addiction, and she remained basically in an alcoholic blur for most of her adult life … with one exception.
Braunwyn would stop consuming when she got pregnant. When it was safe to consume again, she would go right back to continuous intoxication.
Braunwyn had actually had sex with ladies before– in “threesomes” with Sean, though she said that he did not in fact take part.
Still, she determined as a straight woman.
It was just after she faced her alcohol addiction and started her sobriety journey that Braunwyn actually began to see herself truthfully.
The outcome has no downsides. Braunwyn has a sweetheart, Kris.
Her partner appears to have a new gal pal of his own.
The couple’s fantastic kids get to continue to have the assistance and affection of both of their parents.
Braunwyn and Sean are married however not together.
Eventually, the people who have an issue with Braunwyn’s life– which does not affect them at all– are probably at least a little homophobic. Otherwise, why do they care a lot?
We hope that her castmates tread carefully and do not catch themselves wandering off into being homophobic themselves. There’s a fine line between an on-camera “discovering chance” and getting canned for bigotry.
